New Color Scheme.
New work is finishing up bit by bit, but I want to upload it in one go. In the meantime enjoy the new color scheme, designed for the upcoming work.
I've been thinking about the meeting of content and technique in art making. All art is certainly a mixture of both, but more and more I'm interested in content. Of course, what makes content interesting quickly becomes a matter of taste. Nothing is universal, even our base human instincts for food and sex won't appeal to every viewer. The dilemma then is how to choose content, and the answer is to reject the viewer if you cannot rely on their interest. Let the maybes come and go; they are not why we create.
To this end I have decided that all of my work is ultimately about myself. This is true of every artist. This is the Doctrine of art.

New Work

New work is here and online. I've updated my flickr website with the first three (chronologically four, five and six) completed in a series of ten. I've unintentionally pulled a star wars here; let's hope one through three won't be the sucky prequels.
Two points of reference which may be useful for viewing the work are these- The technological Singularity & The Dragon Fractal.
Also of note is the new website of one Michael Varley. Mike is a writer and visual artist. His site has monthly updates of new content, including video and audio files of his stories. It's also prettier than mine. Linky linky.

Massive Flickr Update, Also I Moved
It's been an abysmally long time since I updated and I am sorry for that. There's a decent reason though! I recently moved to the underated city of Binghamton, NY. While it's true that the economy is in a state of despair, the city has a certain charm to it. It's very bicycle friendly, for one.
I've produced a good volume of new artwork. I'm attempting to create an autobiographical map, using the visual content created in my drawings. This is a very large map. I hope it to contain my day to day thoughts, experiences, dreams, feelings; a Gestalt of Self. I believe that in some measure, my old work can be reconsidered in the same sense and still be true. The new drawings are done quickly in pencil or ballpoint pen.

Shows!
Shows, plural! Two of them up right now.
First you can head over to the High Falls Gallery in Rochester, NY. I've got a painting in the BIG show, an invitational featuring work no smaller than 24 sq feet. The show is up until the end of June. Plus you can walk out over the gorge and see Rochester's own Genesee River plummet majestically over High Falls.
Secondly, I have work up at the Pittsford Barnes and Noble, in Pittsford New York down Monroe Ave. The bookish types can take a break from browsing and stop in at the Webster Art Club's Spring Juried Show. I have three drawings in the show, and one of them was awarded "Best in Show." It should be up for the next few weeks or so.
In other news, new work is underway. I should have photographs online in a day or so. Until then, you can always revisit some older work on my Flickr site, linked to the right. Enjoy.

Shows
It's been a while since I've last updated. Things of note since early March; I did not get into grad school, I am moving to Binghamton, NY, and a few new projects are in the works. There are also a few upcoming shows.
One or Two of the Desert Series paintings will be on display at Rochester High Falls gallery in "The BIG Show." The show opens on May 20th.
I've also had three ballpoint pen drawings selected into the Webster Art Club juried show. The show is on display at the Pittsford Barnes and Noble for the next few weeks or so.
